Golfers: Tee It Up for Character!

PRESS RELEASE DATE: FEBRUARY 27, 2008

CHARACTER COUNTS! is calling on all good sports to sign up for the sixth annual “Tee It Up for Character” charity golf tournament.

The tournament will be played at Monarch Country Club on Thursday, April 24. The format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $125 and includes a dinner buffet, goodie bags and awards. Every player also receives a complimentary future round of golf at Monarch and an Enjoyment Dining Out Book.

This year, the tournament features an exciting new addition: The $10,000 Shoot-Out Putting Contest, sponsored by John Pierson’s Toyota of Stuart. The Shoot-Out starts at noon and has a $20 fee. Entrants will compete for the chance to sink a 50-foot putt worth $10,000.

Further prizes pop up during the golf tourney itself. Each par-3 hole has a hole-in-one prize, including a 2008 Toyota Prius and other gifts from Toyota of Stuart and a resort getaway courtesy of Monarch.

The buffet dinner following the tournament features a live auction, with prizes including foursomes at Jupiter Hills Club, McArthur Golf Club, Jupiter Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Frenchman’s Creek Country Club and The Tesoro Club.

A raffle offers the chance for a free Mulligan as well as a chance to win an array of dining and golf packages.

The overall corporate sponsor for the event is Publix Super Markets Charities Inc. Further sponsors include John Pierson’s Toyota of Stuart, The Enjoyment Book, Monarch Country Club, Ampersand Graphics, Florida Coca-Cola Bottling Co., The Palm Beach Post and Hometown News.

Please call CHARACTER COUNTS! director Holly Laiben at (772) 283-4800, ext. 234, for information about sponsorships or registration. Registration forms also are available online at www.charactercounts.net.

“For 12 years CHARACTER COUNTS! has provided character-building activities in our schools and throughout our community, encouraging good sportsmanship, good character and increasing public awareness of the importance of core ethical values,” Mrs. Laiben said. “The Tee It Up for Character Charity Golf Tournament, which is the sole fund-raiser for CHARACTER COUNTS!, will help ensure these activities continue.”
