CHARACTER COUNTS!
Pillar of Character Awards 2004-05
CHARACTER COUNTS! is proud to announce the
recipients of the 2004-05 Pillar of Character Award. All
nominees were judged on their demonstrated commitment to the Six
Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Caring,
Citizenship, Fairness and Responsibility.
The effort was sponsored in part by David
Golden, attorney at law.
The Pillars of Character for 2004-05 are as
follows, with comments from the nominations:

John Budensiek, detective with
the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Detective Budensiek is a
family man who puts his wife and daughter first, a community
volunteer and a person of strong faith. John is a man of integrity,
who possesses an unshakable commitment to doing the right thing. He
is a role model for younger deputies as well as fellow citizens
outside of law enforcement. |

David Cardno, director of the
Father & Child Resource Center. David has been a champion in
all areas of educating juvenile fathers about parenting
responsibilities. He serves as an excellent role model, mentor and
counselor to young fathers incarcerated at Boot Camp and Stop Camp.
Additionally, David serves on numerous not-for-profit boards and
volunteers regularly for community events. |

Noel Hurder, of Alzheimer’s
Community Care. Noel has been making a profound difference in the
lives of people afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease for nearly 20
years. She provides undivided attention to her caregivers and lets
nothing get in the way of listening to a family struggling with this
disease. |

Isabel Kreidler, of Patrick
Stracuzzi Real Estate. Isabel has always been a loyal and honest
employee and colleague demonstrating the highest level of
professionalism. Outside of the office, she is an energetic member
of her church in addition to being past president and board member
of numerous charitable organizations. |

Kelly Ward, of Wachovia Bank.
Kelly is highly respected among her peers at work for her
reliability, kindness, and positive outlook. She is always willing
to help where there is a need, whether it is work related or
community driven. Kelly has served on many charitable boards and
committees throughout the Treasure Coast. |

Susan Neary, executive director of
Caring Children/Clothing Children (4-C Club).
Susan consistently goes beyond her job
description as store manager of this not-for-profit agency that
provides free clothing for impoverished children. Oftentimes,
she works uncompensated on her days off to make certain families
will receive what they need. Susan treats all clients with
dignity, respect and caring.
