Parents, children and community members of all ages are invited to find “A Hero Within” as nationally renowned speaker Paul Vitale brings his inspirational message to Stuart in a free event 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Lyric Theatre.

“Paul Vitale will share his expertise on the impact we can make, as individuals, in our children’s lives and how we, as a community can help our youth grow up safe and healthy,” CHARACTER COUNTS! director Terri May said. “Paul will address the challenges and choices facing our children daily.”

CHARACTER COUNTS!, a program of United Way of Martin County, is one of several local organizations that teamed up to sponsor this event. Other partners include the Shared Services Network of Martin County, the Children’s Services Council, Safe & Drug Free Schools, Martin County Interagency Coalition, 21st Century Grant and the Lyric Theatre.

Vitale travels worldwide, speaking to groups about the importance of a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and other vital concepts. On Nov. 15, he will be presenting his program, “A Hero Within.” Through his travel and his experiences with people from the corporate boardroom to a homeless shelter, Paul has encountered the seeds of heroism, and this seminar shows how to achieve heroism on many levels.

In addition to the free community event at the Lyric Theatre, Vitale will be addressing Martin County’s four middle schools and the Boys & Girls Clubs Nov. 14-16.

For the schoolchildren, Vitale will present a program based on his best-selling book “Are You Puzzled by the Puzzle of Life?” In a dynamic presentation, Vitale covers four basic concepts: (1) You can't finish unless you begin; (2) perception is reality; (3) all you have is your name; (4) you only live once.

“We hope our middle school youth will recognize the many choices they have in life and that they have the power to influence themselves and others in a positive way,” said Robyn Vanover, coordinator of Safe and Drug Free Schools. “We also hope they recognize the ‘hero’ that exists within each and every one of them.”
