Leadership Giving
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society was created by United Way of America
to recognize individuals who exemplify voluntary service and philanthropy in
their communities. The society was named after French nobleman Alexis de Tocqueville because of his admiration for America's spirit of voluntary association and commitment to the common good, about which he wrote enthusiastically in his book,
Democracy in America.
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society honors exceptional levels of giving. Society members are given the opportunity to participate at any of five levels:
- La Societe Nationale - $100,000 or above
- Ordre de Fraternite - $75,000 to $99,99
- Ordre d'Egalite - $50,000 to $74,999
- Ordre de Liberoe - $25,000 to $49,999
- Membres de la Societe - $10,000 to $24,999
The Keel Club recognizes the personal commitment and leadership of individuals who donate $1,000 or more annually.
