The
United Way
of Martin County Foundation
A Case for Giving
The United Way of Martin County Foundation
exists to support United Way of Martin County's mission to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one
another.
The Foundation provides a long-term base of
support and the flexibility to strengthen our community as it
changes. Through the Foundation, individuals and families can
leave a lasting legacy of caring.
An investment in the Foundation benefits children, families and
seniors by addressing vital, changing needs of our community.
Foundation donors can focus their gifts in a specific area they feel
passionately about or they can support the overall common good. Most importantly, the Foundation creates a
safety net that provides for all our citizens.
Most of us give time, talent and treasures to charitable
organizations throughout our lives. We experience the joy that comes from
giving to a charity that puts our values and
priorities into action. Many of us have our personal reasons for charitable
giving while we are living; but statistics show that only a few
of us have thought about making a charitable gift that will
leave a legacy long after we are gone.
-
70% of the U.S. population give to
charities annually.
-
Only 6% leave gifts to charity through
their wills and estates.
-
Over the next 40 years, an estimated
$41 trillion to $130 trillion will pass from one generation
to another.
The magnitude of this wealth will exceed
what most people believe is necessary to provide for their
children after they die. They will have enough wealth to take
care of loved ones and make charitable donations.
There are several ways to give
to the United Way of Martin County Foundation. Please consider some of the
following and read more about them:

We will be happy to meet with you and your attorney and/or financial advisors to discuss choosing a method of giving that's best for you.
