The Merrill Lynch office in Stuart held the
second annual Bull Run 5K Run/Walk on April 21,
raising about $5,000 to benefit United Way of
Martin County.
There were 118
finishers in the 3.1-mile race, which began and
ended near the Merrill Lynch office on Monterey
Road.
“It’s wonderful to see
members of the local community participating in
a healthy activity, especially for a great cause
such as the United Way,” said Jeff Teach, race
chairman and senior financial advisor at Merrill
Lynch. “It was a beautiful day with a good
turnout and everyone really enjoyed themselves.”
Merrill Lynch worked with
the Sailfish Striders Running Club of Stuart to
conduct the race. Trophies and medals were given
out for individual runners in each age group.
The overall winner was
Jeffrey Jerald, 15, of Palm City, who finished
in 18 minutes and 37 seconds. The overall female
winner was Kim Ellis, 25, of Okeechobee, whose
time was 19:48.
The race also featured a
corporate team competition. “Our intent is to
instill a corporate camaraderie within the
Martin County area, as well as have individuals
come and run for fun,” Mr. Teach said.
The team winners were as
