Patty Winterburn, the Indian River
Community College provost for Martin County, will be the
United Way of Martin County’s campaign chair for
2007-08
She succeeds Richard Levine, the
vice president and general manager of Macy’s, who was
the campaign chair for 2006-07.
Ms. Winterburn will lead the
Campaign Team, whose role is to set and achieve a
campaign goal that will help advance the common good in
Martin County. The Campaign Team will have its
orientation meeting at 3 p.m. July 12 at IRCC’s Chastain
Campus on Salerno Road in Stuart.
She already has been helping United
Way plan activities to kick off the campaign. Included
in the plans is a Campaign Kickoff “Pep Rally” Breakfast
at IRCC on Sept. 28 and a Community Leader Golf Outing
on Aug. 17 at Martin Downs Country Club.
“United Way is observing 35 years
in Martin County, and we will be emphasizing the role of
business and community leaders past, present and future
in making United Way a success,” Ms. Winterburn said.
Ms. Winterburn is a longtime
resident of Martin County, having lived in Jensen Beach
for 20 years. She has been with IRCC since 1991, and was
formerly a teacher with the Martin County School
District.
She began her career with IRCC as a
tech prep coordinator and then became the provost in
1996. The Martin County campus serves more than 6,500
students annually and under her leadership has grown to
become a full-service campus.
In addition to her role at IRCC and
her leadership with United Way, Ms. Winterburn also
serves on the boards the American Red Cross, the
Business Development Board, the Martin County Economic
Council, and the Clark Advanced Learning Center
