The Merrill Lynch office in Stuart held the
third annual Bull Run 5K Run/Walk on April 19,
raising about $5,700 to benefit United Way of
Martin County.
There were 119
participants in the 3.1-mile race, which began
and ended near the Merrill Lynch office on
Monterey Road.
“It’s wonderful to see
members of the local community participating in
a healthy activity, especially for a great cause
such as the United Way,” said Jeff Teach, race
chairman and senior financial advisor at Merrill
Lynch.
Merrill Lynch worked with
the Sailfish Striders Running Club of Stuart to
conduct the race. Trophies and medals were given
out for individual runners in each age group.
The overall winner was
Jason Debish, 18, of Port St. Lucie who finished
in 18 minutes and 14 seconds. The overall female
winner was Michelle Pruitt, 17, of Port St.
Lucie.
A special feature of the
annual race is a corporate team competition.
“Our intent is to instill a corporate
camaraderie as well as have individuals come and
run for fun,” Mr. Teach said. “Merrill Lynch
takes pride in helping the community in spirit
as well as helping to fulfill financial needs.
To that end, we will donate the proceeds of the
Bull Run to United Way.”
The team winners were as
follows:
-
Men: Scripps
-
Women: Merrill Lynch
-
Mixed: Merrill Lynch
